New Zealand is beautiful: Exploring NZ with a game
Embark on an exciting adventure across New Zealand with this platformer. It explores through different environments and areas across New Zealand, aiming primarily towards the younger generation, while still providing a relaxing escape for all ages. This game offers a blend of fun and education as you learn and explore different locations and landmarks. There are also buttons that lead you to information reports about the location, challenging obstacles and smooth controls. It also serves as a 'mini tour guide' around New Zealand and can show tourists and citizens alike the importance of protecting and preserving the environment.
The aim:
1. To allow everyone to experience the power of NZ’s nature: It will provide an immersive experience, designed to enhance the game experience.
2. To be like a ‘mini tour guide’ around NZ: Players will get to explore NZ and different parts of NZ, and it will be like a ‘mini tour guide’ around NZ.
3. Educate users: This tool will educate users on NZ and its culture, nature and landmarks.
Target audience:
- Tourists: It will help tourists see that NZ is beautiful and will also try and encourage them to not litter and keep NZ beautiful.
2. Schools: Using this, schools can help students learn about the nature and landmarks of NZ.
3. General population: I want everyone to experience and learn about New Zealand and know that their actions have a consequence.
Key features:
1. A fun interactive way to learn
- It is a platformer game
- It has gems to collect
2. Detailed settings and environments
- Settings look like NZ and use parallax layers to make it more immersive
3. Environments blend into one another, and you always have somewhere to explore.
- Uses shadows to make transitions seamless
- Every setting is unique and interesting
Future enhancements:
This is basically what can be achieved with professionals, as I am not
- Improve the coding
- Continuous updating
- Add more locations
- Add animations as I do not have enough time
- Make the game less laggy
- improve the image quality
How to play:
1. Click the play button on the Main menu. It will teleport you into the level
2. Use the arrows on the bottom right of your keyboard to move your character. The left arrow moves you left, the right arrow moves you right and the up arrow makes you jump.
3. Progress through the platformer and earn coins. If you earn 100 coins or finish the game, you win. If you fall into the void, you lose.
4. At the end of each level, there are two buttons that tell you which location you were just in. If you click them, they send you to an explanation about those locations.
5. If you die or win, you get sent into a win screen or a lose screen. If you click the main menu button, you go back to the main menu, where you can choose to replay.
6. You can double jump so be sure to use that to your advantage.
This is a prototype so there may be bugs and it is shorter than the desired version of the game due to time constraints. It can and will be improved with more development. It is also quite laggy so you might want to turn your volume off if it gets too laggy.
Thanks for reading this note and happy playing!
